Living in alignment is key to flow in our lives.
It requires us to know ourselves well enough to know what’s important
& to take action on that clarity.
It involves looking at not just the things we want or have been working towards
but what’s really important beneath all of the shiny things glimmering in the future.
To unfold our own story, to dive deeper beneath our surface myths,
we can choose to embrace radical freedom,
we can choose to transcend any limitations imposed by societal or inherited norms.
This remembering asks us to explore ourselves deeply,
This journey asks us to challenge our own beliefs,
to let go of any that no longer serve us,
to defy the pressure to be like everyone else
or listen to others before we listen to our True Self
possibly still seeking approval from others before we act,
and then letting go of all psychological authority anyone has over us.

By undertaking this bold act of freeing ourselves from any external "terms & conditions",
we uncover our true perceptions, our true self and ways of being.
The choice might be challenging, as we may go against the current of conformity,
challenge the usual ways of society, and risk disapproval from others.
Yet, it is through this simple exploration that we find the pure beauty of our own story,
not simply following another's path and embracing a life that truly reflects our innermost truth.
Are you living as your own Truth, knowing who you really are,
or are you trying to fit into the stories and concepts
that others, and society, have told you?
When we shift our focus from trying to figure "it" all out and control "it"
to simply experiencing and appreciating the beauty and wonder of existence,
we open ourselves up to a profound sense of simple awe and divine reverence.
It's a humbling and liberating realization that allows us to be fully present and
engaged with the mystery and grace that unfolds in each moment.

Sure, our personal values are our foundational pillars.
When they are strong, we can support the weight of the world.
Not that we have to. But we know we can, if we ever have to,
due to that inner rock solid resilience.
We know who we are. We know what we stand for.
We know what we don't want. We know what we deserve.
When our core values are not known, neglected or weak,
we are so much more susceptible to the roller coaster of life.
We roll and flounder about, we aimlessly rise and fall, we follow, lost in living,
lost in a sea of being perpetually thrown about by even the slightest wave.
We take blind orders, we accept crumbs, we date dumb or misaligned,
we settle for less than we know we deserve,
we listen to the loudest projections and take that on as our truth.
Well der, no shit sherlock you are allowing someone or something else to dictate your life.
No wonder you get stressed and worry and lost in living
reaching for the bottle, or any other addictive adolescent crutch pattern,
yet again.
We then wait, again, we wait, again, we wait, again,
for things to be externally different in order to feel okay with life.

As long as we keep attaching our happiness to the external events of our lives,
waiting for that elusive "happy hour" that "sweet spot" that "holy day"
which are ever changing, we’ll always be left waiting for "it".

Unless we choose to be happy, for no reason, right now,
then happiness will always be somewhere else.
Not knowing our core values, not knowing we already are the happiness,
is the same as consciously not living by that self knowledge.
When we don’t live by that knowledge things feel hollow.
Action can end up feeling meaningless or we feel disconnected
from the world around us.
Because we are yet to know the truth of who we are.

These may be a wake up call for deeper clarity,
for introspection to find the answers within.
What values really matter to us? Right now?
As grown ass sovereign beings?
and then who is the 'i' that knows that?

We may not be responsible for the world that conditioned
our minds when we knew nothing,
but now, if we are sincerely committed to flow, growth and aligned change,
we can embrace complete responsibility.
We can want to know beyond
mere reasoning, mere surface story, mere inherited conditioning
and then be able to 100% respond, wholly, as the totality,
it is not only imperative to know what are my core values?
But more significantly, who is it that knows them?

Core values are almost always surprisingly simple.
Time in nature, quality friendships, time to prepare healthy meals,
feeling a sense of creative independence, and so on.

That still leaves the greater question, who is it that knows these?
Each of us have such a unique set of internal measures that create joy and meaning.
Take some time this week to reflect on what your core values may be.
And then ask, who is it that knows them?
Who am I? Really...?
