It is saying the merciful words that other hearts need to hear in order to come out of hiding from behind an inflated facade of ego.  Ego is not bad.  It is where our innocence hides from the anticipation of pain, betrayal, abandonment and abuse.  And we use the power of mercy to bring everyone, including ourselves, out of hiding.  This is the true healing power that ‘I’m sorry’ provides.
