Genuine love is not always about being in union.

It’s also being willing to say, 

'“I see what you need and want to be happy and you deserve that. 
If I’m honest, I’m not in a position to be able to provide for you in that. 
And I care enough to acknowledge this.” 

That’s also love. 

Having the capacity to hold space for someone to grow into 
the version of themselves that can meet you where you are 
should always come with great discernment. 

There is a difference between holding space and settling 
or compromising your non-negotiable needs because of potential. 

Recognizing the reasons why you and someone else 
may not be in union is so much simpler when you see 
that it’s not always about blame or fault. 

It’s not always because someone didn’t care enough. 
And remembering that in or out of union 
is an opportunity to learn yourself better.

What opens inside you when you're willing to entertain the possibility that things maybe different than you thought they were is what I call the great internal space; a place where you come to know that you don't know. This is really the entry point into the end of suffering: when you become conscious of the fact that you really don't know. I mean that you don't really know anything - that you really don't understand the world, you don't really understand each other, and you ... really don't understand yourself. This is such an obvious thing when we really take a moment and look around. When you look at the world that human beings have created and how we relate to each other, it's so obvious that we don't know anything at all. .
