Simple.
What is the path of least resistance?
As we grow up we get told happiness has to be for a reason.
Seeing any reason for happiness, that reason can get taken away.
Suffering on account of one thing, ignorance, looking for gold when gold is already ours, knowledge is all that’s missing. Knowledge of the one looking being all that’s missing, the destination of bliss having always been ourselves, just needs pointing out.
It’s not the looking that creates all the stress. It’s not knowing what we’re looking for.
Looking for happiness, when we already are the destination of happiness, the blind leading the blind, society dying to be happy, is dying to itself. Falling off a cliff.
Discrimination and discernment (viveka) between vidya and avidya, sat and asat, dharma and adharma, is the basis of liberation (inner freedom or moksha) in Yoga/Vedanta, which as Upanishads timelessly state must be as sharp and focused as the edge of a razor. Without viveka we have no real or lasting insight and remain at the mercy and under the control of external forces.
Answer: Being One Self.
As a baby we’re happy for no reason.
What gets in the way?
Ignorance. Education. Knowledge is missing.
As we grow up we get told happiness has to be for a reason.
Told there’s a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow, we don’t get told that the pot of gold is ourselves.
Falling in love with the rainbow, lost and in love with our ideas, our ignorance is our bliss.
Meanwhile the Grand Prize, and best kept secret in the universe fast asleep is ourselves. In the chase for happiness, like chasing a rainbow, the more you chase the further it gets. The more we chase happiness, the more the gold ‘as though’ separate from us seems to move away from us, and happiness appears to fly out the window.
Seeing any reason for happiness, that reason can get taken away.
The moment it does we cry like babies. Simply watch when someone loses their phone...

To get to the pot of gold how far do we have to go?
There’s no distance. The answer already obvious just needs pointing out.
To reveal the gold you just need to acknowledge yourself.
Without you what gold? Without you what happiness?
You are the missing piece.
Simple, common, everywhere, why seek? why worry? why stress? why do that to your Self?
When the obvious (realization, when YOU are ready to surrender to and receive your whole true SELF that is...) is right there at the very tip of your nose.
You simply may need this pointed out to you.
When the complex, the convoluted, the endless drama and perpetual crisis get all too much and you want to simply realize, Who Am I... really? Beyond all the imposed terms and conditions.
You already are the happiness.
For no reason.
With no attachments but fully and openly heart centred, connected and communing in community as your true self.
You were born that way.
And then external terms & conditions were applied like wall paper, layer upon layer.
Once we remove all that is false, all that is imposed. all that is not us, what are we left with?
The simple answer to the question, "Who Am I?"
