Poets, Writers, Creators. Quiet Revolution.

"I remember when I was much younger, how I was often told to-- ‘stop talking. you write too much. you say too much. you need to be quiet.’ Followed by, ‘just listen’ and to let them speak. Hot air of loudness doesn’t necessarily hold much credibility. Nonetheless I got quieter and pulled down deep.
I bite my lip & chewed the inside of my cheek not to speak. Fear froze me. I sat on my hands to quiet them. Little did I know my fingers would be the vessel to my voice. Little did I know I had a lot to say and those feelings wore me to my core. I speak-write through my heart. “Just listen” grew me stronger and the subtle nature of actions of other’s around me spoke louder than words & their promises; I saw how grandiosity grew them weaker. I studied the sound waves coming at me and could see volume doesn’t matter but heart does.

Quiet isn’t weak. Sensitivity is to vulnerability as insight is to honesty.

I remember now I was taught to be quiet as a form of repression and yet quiet led me to a wellspring of my soul’s verses, insights, and home.

With respect & love, Carolyn"
